Medley 82: Quality Inputs, Time Hacking, Net Neutrality, Alien Bacteria, and Keto Questions?

New Article : “Cultivating High-Quality Inputs for High-Quality Outputs.” This is the next article in my “high-output life” series. It covers how the quality of what we produce is a function of the quality of what we consume, and so today more than ever we need to recognize the low-quality inputs sucking up our time and replace them with a custom feed of valuable information.

New Casts : This week on Nat Chat I was joined by Sebastian Marshall and we went deep on productivity, time tracking, career design, and so much more. And on Made You Think, Neil and I discussed “The Goal” and The Theory of Constraints as a simple rule to never stop improving anything in your life.

I mentioned this in today’s article, but after reading the Stratechery article about Net Neutrality I’ve reversed my stance on the new change: Everyone needs to chill out, it’s not that big a deal.

An oldie but a goodie. If you haven’t read this, here are 7 reasons why you’ll never do anything great with your life.

Some bacteria were found on the outside of the ISS, and they might not be from earth.

I’ve shared articles about this problem before, but I really enjoyed this overview of the replication crisis in science (especially social / psychology) and why it should almost be your default behavior to assume published research isn’t true.

And this is a massive article (~40 minute read) but oh so worth it. It covers all the different places you can intervene in a complex system, how effective they are relative to each other, and why so many people think about it wrong. For example, changing the President or other elected officials is one of the least effective thing you can do to change government / the US.

Also: I started the ketogenic diet last week and I’m planning on following it for ~3 months, tracking everything I can along the way. What are your big questions or things you want to know?

Best,
Nat
